Job Summary

Lebanon Federal Credit Union (LFCU) is seeking an experienced and collaborative executive leader to join our team as Chief Risk Officer (CRO). 

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of LFCU's executive leadership team, the Chief Risk Officer will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Credit Union's risk management, compliance, internal control, and audit coordination activities.

The CRO will partner closely with the executive leadership, department leaders, and appropriate governing bodies to identify and evaluate risk, strengthen internal controls, support regulatory compliance, and provide practical recommendations that promote sound decision-making and responsible growth.  

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop and maintain an enterprise risk management program that aligns with LFCU's operations, strategic objectives, and overall risk profile. 
  • Lead periodic risk assessments across the organization, evaluate controls, identify significant exposures, and recommend priorities for improvement. 
  • Recommend risk policies, acceptable risk levels, and reporting measures for management and Board consideration. 
  • Partner with departments on business continuity, incident response, third- party risk, and the protection of member information. 
  • Review policies, procedures, complaints, operational errors, and control exceptions to identify opportunities to strengthen compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Coach and develop assigned employees while fostering strong working relationships throughout the organization.
  • Adhere to all policy and procedures set forth by LFCU.

Qualifications and Skills

  • ​Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, risk management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 
  • Significant progressive experience in financial services risk management, compliance, audit, or a related discipline, including leadership responsibility, Credit Union experience preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of financial institution operations and the regulatory environment, with the ability to identify when specialized advice is needed. 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem- solving skills. Ability to prioritize competing demands and exercise sound, independent judgment. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex matters clearly to employees, executives, and governing bodies. 
  • Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and ability to challenge decisions constructively while maintaining productive working relationships. 
  • Relevant professional certification in risk management, compliance, accounting, or internal audit preferred.
